This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones stampista.com uses, and how you can manage your choice. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser when you visit it. Cookies let a site remember information about your visit (like whether you're logged in) the next time you load a page, or on a later visit. "Cookie" is used here to also cover similar browser-storage technologies with the same purpose.
stampista.com is a functional web application, not an advertising or analytics-driven site. We use exactly two cookies, both described in full below: one strictly-necessary session cookie required to keep you logged in, and one preference cookie that remembers the choice you make in our cookie banner. We do not use any advertising, profiling, cross-site tracking, or analytics cookies, and we do not embed third-party content (like social media widgets or embedded video) that would set its own cookies.
Under Article 122 of the Italian Privacy Code and Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you've explicitly requested (such as staying logged in) don't require your consent, but we still have to tell you about them:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
PHPSESSID |
Keeps you logged in and remembers your session (selected role, flash messages) as you move between pages. Without it, the platform cannot function: you'd be logged out on every page load. | Deleted when you close your browser (or after a period of inactivity set by our server). |
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
cookie_consent |
Remembers whether you clicked "Accept" or "Reject" on the cookie banner, so we don't show it to you again on every page. This cookie is set regardless of which button you press: it has to be, in order to remember your choice at all. | 1 year, or until you clear your browser's cookies. |
Because stampista.com doesn't currently use any optional cookie (analytics, advertising, or otherwise), choosing "Reject" has no functional difference today beyond dismissing the banner: there is nothing optional running that it would disable. We show the Accept/Reject choice regardless, both because it's good practice and to be ready if we introduce an optional cookie in the future; if we ever do, this policy will be updated first and your "Reject" choice will be honored for it.
We don't run advertising networks, analytics scripts (e.g. Google Analytics), or embedded third-party widgets on stampista.com, so no third party sets cookies through our site. Some backend features make server-to-server calls to external services on your behalf (the EU VIES VAT registry, an IP-geolocation lookup, see our Privacy Policy, Section 4); these do not set any cookie in your browser, since your browser never contacts them directly.
You can accept or reject the preference cookie via the banner shown at the bottom of the page on your first visit. You can change your mind at any time by clearing cookie_consent from your browser's cookie storage (it will show the banner again), or by clearing all cookies for this site, though doing so will also log you out, since that removes PHPSESSID too. Most browsers let you review and delete individual cookies from their privacy/settings menu.
